Stonehenge 2006

I visted my Daughter in London this spring. We took a day trip to Stonehenge and I took this photo. It is an awsome sight.

Great pic. How close were you able to get to the stones, or was this just about the distance? I know they've been closed off because people were wearing them down and defacing them, but it's hard to get a sense of distance or scale from listening to or reading the news.

They have a walking path that surounds the stone circle. I am guessing the closest point was about 15 ft. The heal stone or the pointing stone is about 5 feet from the walking path.

I almost went for the tour that allowed people inside but once I got there I realised I was close enough and the tour I purchased included a stop in Bath(we toured the Roman Bath) and LaCock ,The church in LaCock was used in the dinning room scenes of the Haryy Potter movies and is the hometown of Cammilla Parker Bowes.

The drive through the English countryside is just as you would imagine it to be.

Stonehenge is something I read about in history books and never thought I would see in person. It is amazing especially the time it was built. The construction techniques are sophisticated and then think that they had to to do it wrong once before they did it right. 8)

Of courese I never would have visted the UK except that is where my daughter lives and will probably stay. .

Some other time I will post my tour of the Cutty Sark and Greenwich Observatory.

Those English ales have spoiled me to beer. I am now very selective.

The Pubs are fabulous but smokey and YES I crossed the same intersection on Abbey Road as the Beatles only I had shoes on. My daughter thought I was crazy , she muttered "old hippie"

Yipes I could go on and on. Do you think I enjoyed myself?
Absolutely with extended time with my daughter.

Thank you.

I don't know what's better, the pic or the story... I guess both, in tandem.

Thanks.

Regards,
Keith
