My little zoo
When I was a kid, my parents wouldn't let me have a dog, but they would let me keep a pet that fit in a fish tank... so I collected lots of fish tanks
As of right now, I finally have my dog, as well as a few birds, but the only small critters that I have right now is a Chilean Rose Haired Tarantula named Willie, because he gave the woman working in the pet shop "the willies". I also have an Emperor Scorpion. She had 65 babies a few years ago, but I have nor bred her since. it was fun, but a lot of work to feed all those little scorpions.
In the past, I have had several breeds of snake, reptile and amphibian.
At one time I had an Argentine Horned Frog that was as big as a flattened softball and would attack anything...including me! Here is a picture of him when he was a little smaller. http://web-nuts.com/critters/frog/frog02.jpg

OK, I have to ask this question...with a list as long as you have you must spend most of the day just caring for your 'pets'. So how can one little tiny dwarf hamster become 'too much work' for someone to take care of?
I bet it's really cute...just wondering, do you have any pictures of your 'pets' you can add and share with us?

That person bothered me when she told me that little creature was just too much work....as she looked around at all my other animals. But at least she brought it to me instead of just letting it go outside.
I do have pics, but I have no clue how to attach them here ops:

You have to have someplace to upload the photos to. Then you can link to them here using img tags.
Here's an example:
Take this line:
(img)http://www.thebubbler.com/images/userpics/2565-3.jpeg(/img)
Replace the ( with [ and the ) with ]
(I had to do that switch to show you the code because if I just put the code with the right brackets it would show the picture and you wouldn't see the code)
equals:

I can't imagine how one little creature is too much work... unless you would otherwise not be at home for days at a time and it's the having to go home to feed the critter that's the problem...

Right now I have 9 chinchillas. Got my first 2 in '98. I love them to death! I don't have any kids, but they are my kids. And if they're out and misbehave, I can put them back in their cages. Which is kind of frowned upon with children. lol

Over the weekend I took in a real cute little skunk.
A cockatiel, a weiner dog, and 3 cats.
Add all of them to my critters already here.
The cockatiel stays in quarentine for 30 days, but if all is well I'll put him with the other cockatiels after quarentine.
The little skunk is chocolate in color. Did I say he is real cute?!

Re: My little zoo
Hello Everyone
I live in a zoo too. At least my family all think we do. I have lots of pets and keep getting more because people can't care for them any more Or I can't resist. I also raise a lot of different animals. I always tell people who purchase animals from me that if they can nolonger care for the pet I will take it back. I think any good breeder will agree with me. I also take in animals like the dragons and some of my horses that are abused and need rehab and a forever home. They always find it with me.
I have the following
7 horses
5 dogs
2 bearded dragons
2 cockatoos
2 gerbils
12 cockatiels
30 + parakeets
10 zebra finches
3 canaries
2 orange weaver finches
3 society finches
1 spice finch
30 guinea pigs.
Yup it takes all day to clean cages but I think it is worth it. (it takes even longer with my 2 cockatoos in the way but I let them help too).

Re: My little zoo
Ok...as long as no one calls the "animal police" I will share my zoo. Everyone on here knows my love for my pets. 99% of my pets are rescues or strays that no one wanted. I do have pictures of them all that I could post. I use Photobucket, so that is easy to upload. Let me know the interest in seeing my zoo and I will be more than happy to share.
Here they are:
4 dogs (two German Shepherds...Renegade and Sierra, one Shih Tzu mix...Chief, and one Terrier Mix......Apache..they are brothers and look nothing alike.
12 cats : Gizmo, Kitty Kitty (who has feline diabetes), Shadow, Laci, Kali, Oreo, Baysiby, Babies, Tucker, Taylor, Tony (who is underfed at 23 lbs), and Josi.
17 breeding pairs of angelfish, approx 3000 babies ranging in all sizes, and about 30 adult oddballs waiting to pair off. Along with 3 baby discus.
RIP: Garfield my cat who was my friend that died at the age of 21.
RIP: Licorice my German Shepard who was my all time best friend (I grew up in a abused house and had to leave her behind when I went to foster care) She smiled....showed her teeth...growing up in that environment she knew I needed her and never left me. I just hope we can reunite someday.
RIP: Baby the cockatiel. Best feathered friend anyone could have.
Anyhow that is my zoo. Everyone is either spayed or neutered, shots, etc. The money I spend is worth every penny. They make me laugh and love me for who I am.

Re: My little zoo
My crew will always change in number as critters come and go.
I have the traditional cats, dog....
I also have skunks, raccoons, b&g macaw, african greys, cockatiels, keets, sun conure, potbellied pigs, bunnies, gerbils.
Most of my critters are rescue/surrendered animals looking for a new home.
Some are non-releaseable wildlife.
