Tarantula Spiders.
My friend has a tarantula Spider..I always hated spiders, but this guy is cool. It's as big as my hand,I have touched it already and it's cool watching it stalk Beatles she gets from the pet store.Tarantulas are very quite for a pet and the ones the store sell do not bite..But might if you don't let them know your in the cage..You should make a noise by tapping on something, so they know your in their vicinity.Tarantulas have sticky hairs they use as a defense that will make you itch when you pick them up.So if your allergic stay away it could be deadly.I was young I went to Utah to visit my brother and sister and we saw a wild one one crawling in an open spot,so I went over and put my foot by it and it jumped about 4 feet in the air..YES.. IT JUMPED!So don't do that if you see one. The Spider then just crawled away.I never knew they could do Olympic type jumping...it's very interesting.

I totally hate spiders of any kind. Nasty little things.
I remember one time my husband decided to come buy my oldest daughter a tarantula not taking in the fact that I hate spiders! It sat on top of our entertainment center in the living room in a cage and I simply could not go in there with a fear that it could get out.
I then started having nightmares that I was going to wake up some night and find it out of the cage and in our room. lol
Needless to say 'Charlie' was removed to a new place to live.

As much as I hate creepy crawlies I did volunteer to take in the trantula that came into HAWS back in October. I was only going to "hold" it until Cindy from reptile rescue could come get it. As it turned out she was able to come right to HAWS and it never had to come here.

Spiders eat all the little creepies that people can't see. As long as you don't bother a spider, or make yourself look like spider food, they won't bother you.

have you seen those little spiders that hop? They are small in size, look a bit fizzy, are black...but HOP!
I darn near fell over trying to get out of the way of one that was on my wall. It hopped off at me and I think everyone heard me scream!

I found this website that tells what different spiders are and a little info on them...but I could not look at the pictures long enough to see if there was one that looked like what you were asking about!
I simply could not look without wanting to just cringe! It's to late at night...don't want nightmares! 8O

hey...they're spiders. Sure, some are poisonous, but don't let that worry you, or loose sleep. They just don't bother me. Spiders love to cuddle.

This house that I'm dog sitting for right now has heated floors. This morning when I arrived I saw 2 of the biggest spiders I've seen in quite some time. They were black and "thick", looked like there might be a layer of hair. Dont know.....I made sure to say on the other side of the room as the spiders. Glad they were far enough away from the alarm system or I'd of had to squish them....ok maybe I'd have shooed them away, I dont know.
They did make me jump when I saw them.

Gross!
OK, I would have found something big to hit them with before they had a chance to move!
ECK! Just thinking about them makes me shiver!

Re: Tarantula Spiders.
Ladies and Gentlemen the season of winter is very soon and the time when our little arachnids buddies will crawl their way into our warm and delicious inviting homes.
Many like myself are bringing in the plants, which will surely perish the eve of our first real hard frost. I don't know I'll take a few annoying nips just to control the population of other unwanted guest.
PS Frank-ie I loved the story about the Olympic tarantula. The spiders are excellent hunters and very good at bouncing on the prey.
