Wisconsin Proclaims Itself Home Of The Hamburger[/size]

MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin state lawmakers laid claim Wednesday to being the home of the hamburger.

The Assembly served up a proclamation stating that Charles "Hamburger Charlie" Nagreen of Seymour, Wis. started calling ground beef patties in a bun hamburgers in 1885. Seymour is about 10 miles west of Green Bay, the state’s oldest city.
