FEATURED FORUM THREAD

Title: Cream Cheese Apple Squares

- 2c. flour
- 1c. packed brown sugar
- 3/4 c (reg.) sugar
- 1/2c. butter
- 1c. chopped nuts
- 1 8oz. cream cheese
- 2 T milk
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3-1/2c. chopped apples

Combine flour, brown sugar and 1/2 c. reg. sugar and cinnamon. Mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in Nuts. Reserve about 2 cups of crumbs; rest of crumbs press in a 9x13 pan.

Then Combine cream cheese and milk until well blended. Add remaining sugar, egg and vanilla and mix well. Pour over crust. Top with apples. Sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 mins. Cool, chill and cut into squares. Can serve with cool whip or ice cream.

OK, I tried out this recipe and here's what I found...
  • You never what to say what to do with the butter. I assume it goes in with the topping/crust
  • You say to add the cinamon, but it never appears in the ingredient list so there's no idea how much to add.
  • The flour in the topping stayed white and never got blended into the rest of the ingredients. Not enough butter, I'm guessing.

I'm so sorry !! I'll have to re-read before I post something..You have a good eye an old person can make errors...Thanks...

The butter goes with the Crust/Topping plus 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
and I also add 1/2 teas. cinnamon and mix it with the apples.

*you say---The flour in the topping stayed white and never got blended.

sometimes mine stays white too. maybe it depends on how juicy the apple is.
* you can use less for the topping..That's what I did and it was just fine...
