Speaking of being strict on your kids.. my brother tried that. Everyone of his kids grew up a problem child as a result..

I don't think you should spare the rod necessarily but certainly there should be a balance..

Then you have parents that can't keep their hands off the kids.. I nearly hit the roof when I heard Misty's new boyfriend used a fly swatter on Krystal and has slapped Samantha.. their dad wasn't too happy about it either. Her kids aren't angels but IMO he has no right to discipline them like that..

My parents were more middle of the road parents. No too strict, but not too loose. They set a good example, that is key. There was always the mere threat of getting in trouble if we didn't listen. I don't remember being spanked, but I do remember having privileges taken away. We turned out well. Never had any problems.

I think you're right.. parents need to set a good example if they expect their kids to follow suit.
