If you've ever watched Ice Road Truckers, you'll love this spin off set on some of the deadliest roads running thru the Himalaya mountains and featuring a couple of the Ice Road Truckers vets (Rick and Lisa)..
And I thought the roads we've taken in the mountains and driving down canyon walls were scary. The craziest road we ever been on is Shafer trail from Canyonlands to Moab, UT. It was narrow, bumpy, had a 1500 foot drop off and needed a 4x4. We had to drive really slow to get down it. I nearly crapped my pants. Was it worth it? I'd say so for the scenery, but I don't think I'd take it again. Maybe I'd go up, but not down.
We once had our brakes fail on a steep incline coming out of Torrey Pines State Park in San Diego.. luckily there was a gas station at the base of the incline with a dirt pile to stop our runaway station wagon.. gas station owner said it happens all the time there.

This is someone driving down Shafer trail. Watch at :50 to see the drop off. You can see how bumpy and narrow it is. This road has 2-way traffic if you can believe it.

Coming down a steep incline in Washington State years ago our brakes in the car we were in started smoking really bad. We ended up having to stop and rest for quite sometime before we tried using the car again. Quite scary since I hate heights, and can't stand being near the 'edge' of the road which this one was very narrow. So glad to be back at the bottom on level ground again. The relative that was driving was glad to be back too. lol

I can't imagine Lisa and Tashi not getting along.. they haven't shown much friction between them..

OK, finally had a chance to watch this show last night. Family laughed at me and said I would not like it. . . I lasted 11 minutes before I was begging to turn it to something else. lol Dirty Jobs was on another channel and it was really good.
Deadliest Roads just did not hold my attention at all. Some guy yelling at another one in a language I did not understand, trucks running around on nasty roads and griping the whole time they were doing it = boring to me.
We love the show.. once you watch a few times, you get to know the participants and root for them.. Rick Yemm has a terminally ill daughter that he worries about. Lisa is a great person.. I don't care much for Dave, the driver from Alabama much tho. Watching them navigate the roads keeps you on edge too!
Well maybe it's one of those shows that takes a few times of watching it but not sure if I can talk anyone else here in trying it again. I am not usually watching T.V. so if there is something that I really want to watch that's different but for a show that I don't really like either I'd rather just let everyone else here enjoy what they want to watch. So it's not likely a show I will be watching at least not for awhile. . .
Lisa is trying to make her run solo without her spotter Tashi.. looks like she runs into trouble from the previews. Hope she gets Tashi back.

As a dangerous snowstorm develops along Rohtang pass, Rick's spotter delivers some bad news about their work together; Lisa and Dave race to make their drops, but traffic hinders progress; darkness brings fatigue to the drivers.
Good episode.. by the way, the episode's title, "Pile of Corpses" refers to the translation of the name of the road.. it's so dangerous the name of the road in Hindi is "Pile of Corpses".
