Now, there's a group of friends that are comfortable in their own skin. I can imagine that their marriage will last forever.
My wedding was a small affair. Court House deal. The best man got lost in ?Appleton? (of all the towns) going for the flowers. I think he stopped at a tavern for directions. It was so much fun that my father had time to take a nap. All in all, it was a good wedding and reception. The divorce was a bigger party.
Our wedding was also small...only about 50 people. We were so nervous during the ceremony that we put each others rings on the wrong hands and we forgot to kiss afterward since the minister didn't say "You may now kiss the bride". The reception was nice but the dance sucked. The bar was supposed to have a band booked, but they canceled and didn't tell us so we had no music. We ended up going to a bar down the street where they had a band but didn't stay long since someone had way too much Yukon Jack to drink. LOL We took a short honeymoon in the Dells and then went with my family to visit relatives in Missouri. We refer to that as the trip to Hell. It was soooo hot there and they didn't have air conditioning in their house! If we would have known it was going to be that hot there, we would've stayed in a hotel!
My first wedding was performed by my soon to be Mother-In-Law in the Church my In Laws founded. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony in a very beautiful Church. I will always remember this when I think back on that wedding as a very special memory.
Even tho the marriage didn't last (18 years), I'm still very close to two of my sister in laws. We will always be 'sisters' no matter what.
Our wedding was in the evening since we didn't want to bother with a dinner. I hate that dinging on the glasses. We took pictures at the park before the ceremony at the church to save time. We had the wedding around 7:00 pm and took a limo to a couple of bars. Our friend had gotten the limo as a surprise wedding gift. We had just planned on using cars. We also showed up at my husband's coworker's wedding on the same day. It was funny when they asked the bride and groom to step on the dance floor as there were 2 of us. I'm sure everyone got a kick out of 2 wedding parties on the dance floor. There was 3 weddings that day here. The other was for a classmate of mine. All 3 of us are still married 20 years later.
For the reception, my husband wore the garter, but we didn't tell anyone except the photographer. First I sat on the best man's lap and hubby lifted up the dress to find no garter. Then I got up and and lifted up his pants leg to find the garter there. Even the best man was like, "What the..?" It worked out perfect and people talked about it for a long time.
After the reception went back to the bars down the street. I think we got to our hotel by 2:30 am and then had to be up the next day by 9:00 or so because we had to be over at my parents for gift opening and then off to the airport. We went to Florida for our honeymoon which was in August. It wasn't that bad really.
One thing I remember was all my husband's aunts tried to kiss me as they left the church. I don't like people kissing me like that. One even tried to kiss me on the lips! eww! You can even see me in the photos trying to turn my head as far to the side as I could so they couldn't get me. I only want my husband to kiss me tyvm.
My husband's brother got sick before our ceremony and we had to quick find someone to take his place. One of our ushers became a groomsman and my friend's fiance became the usher. The pants for the tux was a bit too short on him, but other than that it worked out. Only reason my BIL got sick was nerves. He didn't do very well at his own wedding. Neither my husband or me thought it was that bad standing up there. I wasn't even nervous.
