As of September 2009 Guiding Light will be gone forever... I have never watched that one.
I been watching Days and Y&R since i was a small child, having taken 5 yrs off at one time and another time for a couple years... same ol' s/l's and i can take long breaks & come back to the same basics lol sad but true.
I have been a dedicated ALL MY CHILDREN follower since day one of the show. We won't even think about how many years that has been! lol I remember being so lucky that I lived only 2 blocks from school and got out early my Senior year so I could watch it everyday.
Years back it was RYANS HOPE before ALL MY CHILDREN. They were only 1/2 hour shows back then and I watched Ryan's Hope from the beginning to the end of that one. Loved the characters on there and really missed it when it was done. ONE LIFE TO LIVE and GENERAL HOSPITAL was also only 1/2 hour shows years back so I got into them for awhile when my kids were babies. I would feed them and watch my soaps. lol
Now I watch ALL MY CHILDREN and once in a while watch ONE LIFE when I have time (it still follows after ALL MY CHILDREN). With ONE LIFE you can watch a few minutes of it once in a while and still keep up with that one.
Not sure what I would do if they ever decided to take ALL MY CHILDREN off the air, I feel like it's been part of my life since forever. I watched Ericka since she was in high school and JR grow up. I remember when Tad was just a kid and was thrown out the car and left in the park and the Martins adopted him. Now he is all grown and has a grown kid. The characters and their lives on the show is like part of my family since they have been with me through out most of my life.

As far as Guiding Light, I have never watched it, have no clue who plays on that show, what channel or time it's on. I think it's been on for a long time?
I do feel badly for those that follow the show though...it's hard to lose a soap that is part of your daily life. Only a fellow soap lover can understand that. lol

I remember recording Y&R and Days (VTR or VHS) when i was in school & I'd hurry home to watch them after school everyday. Same once i started working, now it's DVR.
Both of my kids sit in the living room with me every night & watch both soaps with me now. When they aren't home to watch the soaps they will call & remind me not to delete them because they haven't watched. Funny thing is that they are both home all day right now & still wont watch our soaps until they watch with me... we call it family time lol

I have never lost a daily soap (yet)... Y&R has been #1 for many many years & Days is ever so popular, however has been in jeopardy of being cancelled a few times, but i could imagine it sucks pretty bad.
I know when Knots Landing (prime time soap many yrs back) went away forever i cried like a baby lol of course i was a kid then, but if i woke one day & Y&R was gone i wouldn't be very happy! Days i'd probably deal with a bit better, i take breaks from it often as it is
ALL MY CHILDREN has been exceptionally good this past week. The week was full with leading up to the big, 'who done it' murder on Friday. I think Adam Chandler is now dead but I also read one other person was shot. Who shot Adam? Who is the unknown person that was shot? What is Liza's real reason for being back in Pine Valley? Interesting ideas floating around but I guess to get the real answers one has to keep watching to find out. ..
I remember General Hospital back when Jesse and Dr. Hardy were on there.. always had a crush on Zina Behune back when she played a nurse on the show, "The Nurses".
Y & R has had me in tears the past 2 weeks & it bites now that the kids are no longer home & i have to watch alone. I tend to visit the soap forums more now that i have no one at home to talk to about them lol
As I wrote before I am a true AMC fan from day one and I hope it survives the move they are planning on making. Big upset with many of the actors that play on the show because the show is moving from New York and setting up Pine Valley in a California based set. Apparently it will save big $$ by moving and they will have a larger area so they can add sets up and not have to take them down as they do now with a smaller area. This will leave more for 'change's' on the show. But the problem is most of the actors are die hard New Yorkers and not sure if they want to make the move to the East coast.
Waiting to see how many characters will be exiting the show or see if they will make the move.....
Just got the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest a couple days ago.. got a free subscription, lol!
I use to try to pick it up sometimes or at least read what I could of it while in line at the grocery store. But now I just go on soapcentral.com. It keeps up up to speed on the latest gossip etc. and I don't have yet another magazine laying around.
