There has been a few different American Idol topics started through out the forums but this one can be a general American Idol one.
What do you think of this years new judge?
Who stands out so far as someone to watch?
Are you one that watches every show or tape it if you aren't home to watch it later?
Lots of fun can be had for us AI fans this season so let's share our thoughts on everything that happens on the show.

I personally like the new judge..what's her name? lol (inside joke on the show). I think she will add to the board and hopefully take some time away from listening to Paula. Even though I like Paula (mainly when she is not talking), I find that most of the time she simply doesn't make sense when it's her turn to say something. .

After seven years as America's number one television show, American Idol is making some changes. Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi will join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul as a fourth judge when the singing competition begins its eighth season in January. VOA's Ilir Ikonomi recently caught up with American Idol's newest judge in New York.
Kinda shocks me too.. I think it's a shame they spotlight people in this manner.. trading bad manners in the case of the judges for ratings. But I suspect it's like people viewing a carwreck.. always gonna happen.
The last time I watched a full season was season 4 (I think).. voted for carrie Underwood. I always forget it's on.. used to watch it with my girlfriend.
New judge Cara....like her. I LOVE Simon, he tells it like it is, usually dead on correct about talent.
So far I like (can't remember names.....) from Tuesday night, the rocker chick with the yellow/orange hair, Wed. night, the guy with the great voice who is recently widowed, and the girl with long brown hair and glasses that takes care of her elderly grandmother.
Gee.....do any of those ring a bell? LOL
My name is TOES and I am an Idolholic.

I like Simon too. He is honest but most people hate it when you are honest with them. Of course he could do it a little less rude at times.
Paula usually just follows what Randy is saying, otherwise when left on her own she talks in circles and you end up wondering what she even said. lol
I like Randy a lot.
New Judge? So far I like her..a little soon to be sure though.
I agree with all the above... New judge will take some getting use to, Paula is a strange person & i swear she's always drunk or on drugs, Randy is the bomb! & then there is Simon... Honest to the bone, can't find fault in that & fun to watch.
I think Simon is the most "real" of the judges.. honest but I'll bet my life he does care sincerely for his work and the contestants. Obviously alot of Simon is done for ratings, it's "showmanship". I like Randy better than Paula.

I agree Simon is honest and says how it is but what I don't like is the way he does it. He's just cruel when it comes to peoples feelings.
I understand these reality shows are about ratings and people like to see other people degraded, in return higher ratings.

Danny Gokey! He's from Milwaukee. I swore I wouldn't watch this year but I saw his audition and got hooked. I think he has progressed because I Googled him after his audition and there was very little info online. I think they make contestants take their personal blogs and websites down if they get to a certain point.
It seems like they're getting more into the contestants life stories this year, but only the contestants that have sad stories to tell. It feels exploitative to me.
Simon has been nearly silent this year. I miss his sarcasm.
Exploitative maybe.. but that's what gets the average viewer unfortunately.

I am also an avid Idol fan. I am one of those who pick a favorite from the start and call in to vote for them! I guess that makes me an Idolholic too?
I am quite impressed with Danny Goke from Milwaukee this season. Too bad his best friend was eliminated tonight. I thought he was a better singer than some of the other ones they kept in the top 36. The girl who is "overly emotional" really annoys me though. I predict that she will be one of the first ones eliminated next week...at least I hope so anyhow.
A girl I know from a nearby town went to audition two years ago for Idol. She said contestants have to make it through three auditions before they even get to sing in front of the judges (Paula, Simon, Randy, Kara). A lot of the times they choose some of the worst ones to send through just so they can up the ratings and make it more interesting. I suppose if they didn't do that, then the show would get kind of boring. I like to watch the bad singers to see their reactions when they're told that they shouldn't do singing as a career. My son won't watch Idol with me anymore. He has perfect pitch and when someone sings off key, he says it hurts his ears! LOL

Danny is the one to really watch this season. I think he will go far, in fact he just may be the one to win this year. Great voice and good looking... what more can you ask for?

I don't know about everyone else but I was thrilled to see Tatiana Del Toro get the boot off AI last night. She does have a nice voice but she was just plain strange...and annoying!

She is a strange one & I'm thinking she had some psycho tendencies... so glad to see her go & happy to see Danny Gokey still in the game!

I agree about Tatiana getting booted off...she was such a drama queen! Hopefully the judges don't use the "wild card" and bring her back! I was also happy to see Danny Goke and Alexis Grace make it through. I had hoped Anoop would get in as well...I thought he sang nicely, but I guess more people voted for Michael Sarver. Maybe it was because the public can relate to him more as "the common man"? There sure was a lot of publicity put out there about him being a driller. My prediction is that he won't make it to the top three though. I am already looking forwards to next weeks shows!
