I actually like Ellen on the show which I wasn't sure I would at first. The only problems I notice though is she seems to be Randy's mimic. They should have her first more to see what she actually thinks of things. But her form of jokes I think adds flavor to the panel. She can be quite funny.
I will also mention (again) that if you watch Ellen and Kara they rarely if ever speak to one another and try even not to look at each other. One time last week Ellen actually bent backwards to look around Kara talking and started talking to Simon. Kara looked annoyed and quite talking. I had to laugh...
Have you noticed how "cozy" Kara has been with Simon?
Ryan mentioned (last week) how she has been getting closer to Simon each week... I personally think she is just trying to get further away from Ellen. I also thnk she is just trying to fill Paulas shoes, who sat really close to Simon & flirted a lot, as Kara is doing now.

I love Ellen on the show... Paula who?
Yes, Paula who? lol I did like Paula but as I said before, judges can be replaced without the show falling apart.
I also have noticed how Kara sits so close to Simon, or is it far away from Ellen? I would like to read an article as to what that is really all about. It looks like there is two 'sets' of judges. Randy and Ellen. Kara and Simon. Strange.

That was exactly what i was thinking last night as i watched the show. They do seem seperated & i wonder if that will get worse once Simon is gone.
I like Ellen and always have.. she has a quirky brand of humor that appeals to me. Not sure she's qualified to judge music per se, but it's ordinary people whjo ultimately buy the music so I guess you don't have to be a professional to be a music critic.
I never really cared for Randy, Paula, or Kara.. Simon was the one judge I truly listened to and respected.
I watched this again this morning and it was even better than last night! He is totally one to watch this year.
It's so funny because even though Michael Lynche is much bigger than my oldest son everyone here still thinks my son and Michael are so much alike. (barring the fact that my son is a white boy)...
But when Michael stands before the judges and has the look in his eyes, and that cute polite smile my son looks just like that at times. And the fact that my son shaves his head and they both have similar eyes and brows. Now if only my son sang like Michael.

OK, I know I sound like a broken record, (ha, little pun there), but watch this clip again with Big Mike and this time watch the judges at the end. While Kara was supposedly crying (with no real tears), Ellen just sits real straight and doesn't respond at all. Simon hugs Kara and still Ellen just sits there. If someone was crying and making a big deal over a singer and they were sitting next to you, would you not at least look over or reach out your hand to touch their arm or something?? Last year Paula and Kara would have been hugging each other.
I almost wonder if Kara's outburst of emotion wasn't really a ploy to up stage the fact that Ellen got attention earlier when she ran up and hugged one of the performers because she liked him so much. Kara's tears certainly made everyone forget Ellen's little hug.
lol This is going to be an interesting season.

But with the girls, not at all. I couldn't believe that Lilly Scott was eliminated instead of Katie at the end! Lilly was good until this week when she sang Patsy Kline's song "After Midnight". I think most people didn't like that she did such an outdated song even though she changed it some.

I honestly thought Katie should have left before this. She has a good voice but for being 16 she really is boring and so many other people have her 'sound'. Lilly was quite different in a good way. I think she would have grown into a really interesting contestant.
One could tell that Lilly thought she had it in the bag too and when they said she lost I think she was shocked. Her comment showed that when she almost sounded a bit angry at the end saying something about not knowing what everyone wanted then. ...
Anyways, I'm sure Katie won't last much longer and we do need a few that we won't miss as much to help the good ones stay on that much longer.

Are they only eliminating one person now? If so, I am thinking it might be Tim Urban or Aaron Kelly. It all depends on how many people vote. Simon said tonight that Siobahn Magnus was better but I actually thought she sounded kind of nasally. I still think that Crystal Bowersox is the best singer by far.

I think Tim Urban before Aaron Kelly. Thought Aaron did a pretty good job with the song he picked last night. Tim was really boring last night.
I really like Siobahn Magnus I think she will be on the order of a female Adam Lambert but a much nicer version. She has a great vocal range. Just hope she doesn't make the mistake of using the long high note every time or people will quickly get tired of that. It was a great wow factor once, maybe twice but hopefully she will move on to other things.
I truly love Crystal but hope people don't start getting bored with the only style she seems to be showing. She has a wonderful voice but needs to show more emotion I think. With that said, I still think she will go all the way to the end.
Then there is Big Mike. What can I say, he is such a huge teddy bear with a fantastic voice too. I think at the end you will see Mike, Siobahn, and Crystal. They are the shining stars on the show this year.
Of course I like DiDi too....but she won't make it to the end I don't think.
So what do you think?

I just watched this again right now and I have to say this was the one that stands out in my mind now a day later. What did Mike sing? What did Crystal sing? I can't remember except that I really liked them while they sang their songs...but what did Siobhan sing? PAINT IT BLACK!
Love the performance, the red stairs, the cool boots with the dress. Hope she keeps it up.

Wow what was with Paige tonight? I almost had to stop listening she was so pitchy and off key and just plain awful. And the strange part when the judges were really ripping her apart she didn't seem to mind. I think they hit it on the nail when they said it was like she lost the competitive feeling. I wonder if she just decided it was to much work and wanted off. Why else would she sing that badly? It was like she was totally trying to throw it away.
I almost had to gag when Tim came on and did the slide and tried to dance all over. Everything about that performance was bad too.
I think we have the 2 that need to be kicked off on Thursday for sure.

I definitely agree about them and I also think Didi was bad too. In fact, the only ones that I thought were good tonight were Crystal Bowersox and Casey James. The rest did not, as the judges said, "have the wow factor" at all. Although, Katie wasn't too bad and at least she sang a more modern song whereas everyone else chose old songs.

Yes, Didi wasn't very good either. What's up with some? It's like they are not trying very hard.
I did think Katie was actually much better for sure even though she is still not on my fav list, she did make a step closer to it for once.
Casey James. ..What's not to drool over...oops, It's just that he reminds me so much of a guy I use to go out with a few times. Certainly is fun to watch and yes, he was really good tonight too.
And of course Sibhon or however it's spelled was still on top of my favorite list however if you remember me saying that I hope she doesn't always use the great high 'scream' notes at the end each time or it will not have the same affect, seems like she is there now. The ending scream is getting a bit old.

You might be right about that. Maybe some of them are intimidated by how much better Crystal and Casey are and are losing their competitive edge thinking "why bother" since one of those two will probably win anyhow.

I don't care much for her singing because of the screaming. To me it's like it's a way for someone to compensate for the fact that they can't sing as well so they try cover it up by hitting a high note. It reminds me of the old "Star Search" show where usually the one who hit the high notes in their songs won the competition each week.

She didn't have as much of a scream tonight but it was still noticeable. The thing is that Simon made a comment wasn't it just last week how he looks forward to the yell at the end and then tonight as I thought would happen, he made the comment that he is getting bored with the yelling at the end. Gee, sometimes he really can confuse the singer with his comments.
