I lived here a long time....
This should be one of the longest threads in the Forums. Lots of members from here. Though I live in a 'burb now, I'll post here, too.
I lived all over Milwaukee County as a kid and young adult. 11th & Cleveland, across from Cleveland Park for 3 years as a kid, the longest I ever lived in one place till I was about 25. Great place. They flooded the ball fields across the street on calm, cold nights to make a skating rink where hundreds of us skated every night till the porch lights came on and it was time to come home. Football along the crick. Walking to the movies on Mitchell Street or KK.
Other places include 40th & Barnard, 20th & Layton, 14th near Grange, 1033 E. Pleasant - a 36-unit apartment building I managed when I was 17, the Plaza Hotel, where I lived till I managed the apartment building; 69th just north of Lincoln and 102nd street just north of Lincoln, and about 111th just south of Oklahoma plus 70th and National, all in West Allis. Oh, and the dorms at UW-Milwaukee for two semesters.
Attended R.B. Hayes Elementary and Sholes Middle School, and Boys Trade & Technical High School the last year it was Boys Tech.
That's all I remember offhand. Lots of good times there.
Regards,
Keith

I have also lived in Milwaukee county pretty much my whole life. Moved to Waukesha County for 8 months, hated it. Not that Waukesha County isn't great, but Milwaukee is where I belong. I love it here and thought about traveling, but then had my daughter and I want her to grow up here too. My best memories were coming downtown for fireworks when my mom worked at Firstar (when it was firstar). It was great. So much cool stuff to see. I love bringing my daughter to walk thru downtown, she is still a little young to appreciate it that much, but she does like the big buildings! Milwaukee is awesome!

Re: Post here if you live in Milwaukee County
I was born in Milwaukee at St. Michael's Hospital. At 3 my family moved to Waterloo, WI for about 4 years, and then moved back. I live in Milwaukee, and work in Racine. I've had a lot of places that I've called home, but they've always been on the 'North Side' of Milwaukee. That, however, may not remain true for long. Due to the price of gas (North Side of Milwaukee to Downtown Racine and back every day, whew!!!), my wife, of almost 4 years, and I are considering packing up our son (2yrs) and moving to Racine County. We'll see.
