Fifth Infant Sharing Bed Dies In Milwaukee
City Officials Launched Public Awareness Campaign
Another Milwaukee infant has died after sharing a bed with an adult, the fifth child in the last 10 weeks.
The Milwaukee County medical examiner planned to do an autopsy on the nearly 2-month-old child Monday to determine the exact cause of death.
Milwaukee police said the infant's mother told investigators that she was sharing a bed with her baby and awoke Sunday morning to find him face down and unresponsive.
Meekel McCleave's mother told police she went to a wedding Saturday night, had a few drinks and returned home about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Four other babies, all under 3 months old, have died since March 8 after sleeping with an adult.
