12-Year-Old Shot in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE -
A 12-year-old girl was at Children's Hospital Friday morning, recovering from a wound from a bullet, a wound that could leave her paralyzed.
Witnesses say the violence started as a fight between adolescent girls and ended with the girl's own father getting involved in a Washington Park neighborhood.
It was shortly after 7:30pm Thursday when police were called to 39th and Galena to break up a slugfest between 12 and 15 year old girls. But that fist fight quickly escalated into gunplay.
"When the officers drove up on this, there was still gunfire going on," said Milwaukee Police Captain Michael Massa.
______
There were witness reports that the girl's own father may have fired the bullet that hit her own daughter, however, Milwaukee Police say that's not the case. Police say the girl's father was arrested after the incident. Two other men were also arrested.
