MYSO's Jazz Heritage Festival is not only a great chance to hear the talented students of the Jazz Studies program (10 jazz combos!), it is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase the rich jazz history of our neighborhood—Bronzeville
Between 1900 and 1960, Bronzeville (neighborhood where MYAC is located) became a vibrant African American neighborhood, enlivened by night clubs, restaurants, and social centers focused on family and community building.
It was "the" place for jazz in Milwaukee.
