Re: Rafting, Tubing and Camping

Shotgun Eddy is located along the famous Wolf River just 25 miles north of Shawano on Hwy 55. A small drive for a great experience. The rafting season open on May 1 and closes in September. Smokey Falls - Our Premiere Trip. The best trip on the Wolf River, and one of the best runs in the Midwest. Awesome whitewater and breathtaking scenery, makes this trip our most popular. Sullivan Falls, Ducknest, Wolf River Dalles and Smokey Falls await your challenge.

Does anyone else raft this set of rapids. I am rafting the section before this set of rapids in May and will try to visit this area in July if the water is a a nice level.

I remember doing that a (large) number of years ago.

Lessons learned:

Paddles will break if you get them caught between rocks and are not careful in removing them. When broken they are quite useless.

When your canoe gets more that 4-6" of water in it it is best to stop to empty it out as it is very hard to move.

Try not to think of the movie "Deliverance".

Re: Rafting, Tubing and Camping

I don't think I've been canoeing where we haven't capsized at least once.. and if you see others getting out and carrying their canoe past a bend in the river, it seems like a good idea to follow suit.
