I _am_ interested in pronunciations. Linguistic anthropology was what I originally went to college for. The difference between British English and the different versions of American English are particularly interesting because I don't have to haul out any books for translation, and since it's my native tongue I can recognize the minute variations and subtleties I might miss in a foreign language.
I'm not sure why that thread got locked; we did have someone spamming the board and some of the threads got locked by one of the mods to stop them. Maybe it's left over from that? I'll look into it... -
