Bullhead Lake Info

Bullhead has a reputation of being a “good Bluegill lake,” you can catch 8- to 10-inchers in the shallows on jigs and waxies both summer and winter. In addition, Bullhead has a fair population of stocked Walleyes. These tend to run on the large side and can usually be caught on jig/minnow combinations near the deep east-shore weedline and around the quick drop on the northwest. Access here is only fair; there’s parking for two car-trailer rigs. Check posted regs for restrictions on power boats and water skiing.

Cedar Lake Info

Cedar Lake is one of the best waters around for LM Bass.Though many are smaller, you’ll find 6- to 8-pounders here, and they can be taken with plastic worms in the shoreline weeds and around docks, you’ll also find some “keeper” Walleyes here, along with 8- to 10-inch Bluegills and occasional nice Perch. Fish the islands for the Perch and ‘gills; you’ll also take them through the ice with jig/waxie combinations or small minnows. The landing on the south shore is OK for all boats; check the posted regs for wake hours.

English Lake Info

This is an attractive lake. You’ll find some Walleye here, chiefly smaller ones. But the big attraction to this lake is Largemouth Bass. Feeding on large numbers of Perch and panfish, they grow to decent size and can be taken with crankbaits or pig/jig combinations. Rounding out the fishery are hammer-handle Northern Pike and lots of small Sunnies and Perch. Don’t bother with the panfish, as fishing pressure and predation keep them from growing up.

Horseshoe Lake Info

This pretty lake is only 22 acres in surface area, but it has a reputation for growing some nice fish. Though the stocked Rainbow Trout primarily provide a “put-and-take” fishery, some of the Trout do survive for a few years and grow pretty large. A 20-inch fish and a 21-incher were taken in 1998, says Klaeser. You’ll take them on minnows, waxies and small spinners around the shorelines in the spring. Fish them in 5 to 14 feet of water and move around a bit. There’s a warmwater fishery here, too, Occasionally a big N. Pike is hauled out, and you can find some LM Bass of legal size. No motors are allowed on Horseshoe, so leave the waterbike at home.

Pigeon Lake Info

Though it’s not particularly known as trophy water, Pigeon Lake does have a habit of producing some nice Walleyes. Back in 1984, in fact, a DNR survey showed goggle eyes up to 26 inches. Moreover, Walleyes were relatively abundant that year, and the smallest one captured in the DNR’s fyke nets was 18 inches. The net catch, to be sure, averaged 22 inches. Not bad for an 86-acre lake! it’s not the mid-80s anymore, but you can still catch some nice Walleyes with live bait around the mid-lake hump on the north end and off the bar at mid-lake on the west side. The steeply dropping east shore, too, deserves a look. You’ll also find some fair-size LM Bass in the weeds and Crappies suspended over deep water in summer. Look for boating hours at the launch site.

Silver Lake Info

There’s a fair population of N. Pike in Silver Lake, and, if you’re willing to work and do some sorting, you can catch some that are pretty respectable. The lake’s northern lobe has some good weed edges to cast with crankbaits or live bait. You can also try around the islands. As is the case with the Northerns, you’ll have to work to find a large Crappie here, but you can do it; fish up to 11 inches or so have been sampled in DNR nets. Fish the edges of the deep holes with minnows or jig/minnow combinations. You can also take the occasional Brown or Brook Trout in Silver Creek off the north end.

Sheboygan Walleye Club's fund-raising event-CANCELLED

The Sheboygan Walleye Club's fund-raising event scheduled for Saturday at the lodge is cancelled. It's the club's one major fund-raiser of the year but board members decided Wednesday to cancel the fund-raiser all together.
A massive fire burned Cedar Lake Resort to the ground Wednesday afternoon.

Salmon fishing

As in Sheboygan the salmon are biting well off the piers for those without boats. Get out there and cast away! I will be going down tomorrow to bring some back home..i know, confident aint i?, but as well as theyre biting yoou cant miss! If you go and see a guy in red rain gear, because knowing the weather these days its going to be raining, and a blue bucket hat stop by and say hi! Who knows, you may even be able to talk me out of some fish if you want...lol

For those who choose not to fish in the above mentioned derbies its still free to go down and see the catches. Lots of food and the beach is only a hop away for the kids to swim.
