Elma M. Drehmel, 90, of the Fall Creek Valley Care Center passed away early Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Elma May Drehmel, daughter of Arthur and Martha (Westphal) Wilken, was born January 3, 1921 in Phillips, Wisconsin. At the age of seven she moved with her family to Chicago, where she received her education.
She was united in marriage to Arvid Marshall Drehmel on July 6, 1945, in Stark, Florida. The couple moved to Ludington Township, where they farmed until 1961, when they moved into the village of Fall Creek.
While in Fall Creek, Elma worked for the Fall Creek School District, working in the hot lunch program and also as a playground monitor. Arvid also worked for the school district so the couple were able to enjoy spending their summers at a lake near Phillips, Wisconsin. Elma enjoyed working on crafts, sewing, crocheting, watching birds and old television shows.
She is survived by two sons, Gary and Kathy Drehmel of Louisville, Kentucky, Dale and Karen Drehmel of Cadott; her grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Drehmel, Jeremy, Joe and Jason Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Robert and Joan Wilken of Machesney, IL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elna and Gordon Buttenhoff of Chippewa Falls, Dr. Gerald and Enid Drehmel of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arvid on September 26, 2005, and siblings, Rolland, John, Fred, Lee and Edward Wilken, Ruth Muth and Lora MacLachlan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ludington.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
