The Shalom Center is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3), non-sectarian, social service organization that was incorporated in the state of Wisconsin in 1982. We assist those in our community in need by providing food, shelter, housing, and support in ways that foster well-being and respect human dignity. Some positions include patient contact, such as discharge escort or dietary menu distributor. Some assignments call for light clerical work and some are sit-down, the kind you find in day surgery or medical records. Daybreak Activity Assistant:
Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services, Inc.
Seeking Daybreak Activity Assistant volunteers to help provide stimulating and enjoyable activities for individuals with Alzheimer's Disease or related dementia while providing a much needed respite/"time-away" for the caregiver.
Volunteers are needed for our Friendly Visitor Program to provide companionship to homebound elderly by visiting in the home to reduce loneliness and improve quality of life.
The mission of a Volunteer is to provide a service to persons in need and respond to those basic needs of the residents in an atmosphere of respect for their dignity and independence. Their goal should be to assist residents to participate in formal and informal facility activities, and to provide residents with the opportunity to have contact with people in addition to other residents and staff.
Master Gardeners are volunteers who provide information to area residents on gardening, lawn care, trees and shrubs, flowers, and fruits. They also work with children and adults in numerous UW-Extension projects and gardens in Kenosha County.
The Circle of Hope Program through the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha is looking for adults who are willing to spend some time making the difference in the life of a child. If you are able to spend a minimum of one hour per week with a child and able to attend a monthly meeting, you are needed.

Intergenerational Faires:Where Seniors Show & Tell
Great for 55+
The Intergenerational Faire sponsored by RSVP visits local elementary schools at least 6 times a year. Typically this is a day of show-and-tell. Senior volunteers will display their various hobbies, crafts,special skills, talents and collections in booths and share their interests with the younger generation.
The Volunteer Escort Program provides transportation to seniors and the disabled who are ambulatory but unable to use public or other transportation services because of age or impairment. Volunteers use their own cars to transport seniors/disabled to doctor's appointments, grocery stores, hospitals, and treatment centers or wherever they may need to go.
Gateway Radio Reading Services provides blind and physically inmpaired persons with broadcast reading of their local newspapers and other informative and entertaining programming every weekday throughout the year.
The South Kenosha Progress Fund is a volunteer neighborhood organization, which helps to preserve and enhance the residential quality of life for Southside residents. Through SKPF sponsored events and programs we help make Kenosha’s Southside a great place to live.
