I've been waiting to see if anyone from the Kenosha County area would post here when  it hit me!... Maybe I should start this. lol

OK, I'm from the City of Kenosha. We moved here over 12 years ago and I really like it here. It's a bigger city with lots to offer with a small town feel.

One thing I really love is so much access to the lake area. Lots of beaches to walk on, and lake view to enjoy.

Anyone else from the area? OK, I do know you are from here rudedog! lol But we won't tell anyone if you don't want to.

Can't say that I am from here. I was born in Ashland, lived most of my life and raised my kids in Waterford in Racine county. I've been living in the city of Kenosha for 8 years now.

It was the love connection. I was working in Milwaukee and the love of my life was working in Chichago---and we ended up in Kenosha. It was a split the difference kind of thing..

I'm a long term Aurora employee and transferred to this campus 7 years ago.

Love the lake and love all the friends I have made here. The only regret I have is that my former home was on a small lake in Racine county and I do miss being directly on the water. I'm thinking Bristol would be a nice place to move. I love the convenience of the city but I'm a country gal at heart.

Talking Re: Post here if you live in Kenosha County

Born and raised here in the City of Kenosha, have lived here my entire 47 years (my God, that IS a long time, but it is only 6 1/2 doggie years). I might add that I have never had a desire to live anywhere else - Oh, I do like to travel and see new places, but Kenosha is and always will be my home. I also have known PK for many years, including those when she lived in Illinois! It's good to know she has improved upon her life by moving north.

It's hard to believe how long we have known each other! And yes, I've improved my life coming 'up north' here and I love Kenosha! And it's great to see you are now improving your life by getting on the bubbler more often! lol

Hey now maybe we can even get you to move on into the chat room sometime.

Re: Post here if you live in Kenosha County

Hey Everyone, AAA here again. I posted on the welcome page too.

I found the bubbler after the DK was going to shut down (which once again might not be the case). Anyway, I'll be hanging around both places now.

I've been up here (from IL) for over 5 years and I like it so far and its a pretty friendly place. We had a block party last summer and it was nice to meet the neighbors and even our alderman showed up. There is a nice small-town feel that everyone has described, although that was more prevelant when I lived on the north side (just north of Washington Park). I think that is because the houses were much older and had front steps that people like to sit on, which makes you say 'hi' as your walking the baby stroller around. The newer houses seem to be designed to keep people in the backyard.

When I first moved up here, I heard raves about the schools, but now it seems they are the worst thing this side of this rusted out Ford I used to drive. At least that was the impression I was getting from some DK posters. I still think they are better than many other districts, whatever faults they may have. I live near Tremper and see these kids on their way to school in the morning and they seem pretty normal to me, and don't appear to be criminals in any way. They may dress funny, but I'm sure older people said that about me when I was a lad.

So you'll be hearing from me here and in the DK.

Re: Post here if you live in Kenosha County

Hi again aaa...as always I love to see Kenosha folk on here. The great part of the bubbler is the fact that we can have members from all over the state But it's still great to get members from our own back yards too.

I found the bubbler several years ago I think... (guess I'll have to check that), but it's been a very rewarding site to be part of. I too came here from dk and so glad I landed here in the forum that has a heart. I say that because it was finally a place that people did not snipe at you, or complain, or this drama or that. Not to discourage you from any other website. (we don't do that here)...just meaning that I personally found it like a breath of fresh air to come where it's a very stress free zone. Everyone here has so many fun and intelligent comments to offer. There is so many topics to choose from. There is a nice niche for everyone here.

But so much for the website I do also want to say that I am also from Illinois and moved up to Kenosha about 14 years ago. We have put our children in the school system here and could not be happier with the many choices they have to offer in this city for our children. Some towns you really have very little choices. You have your neighborhood school and one choice of a high school. Here we did not want to put our children in the neighborhood school so we had other options. We chose the Kenosha School of Language which was the perfect choice for our children. The vast amount of opportunities for them now that they are bi-lingual will be awesome. Since my daughter loves to learn languages Kenosha even has a Chinese School that she attends on Saturday mornings. (not part of the kenosha school district but still something that is offered in this city). How many cities have something like that?

She also has a great Charter High School with only 100 students she attends. Again, how many cities offers so many choices so you have an opportunity to find the 'right' school for each child.

Sure, we have a lot of issues in our schools, but compared to most places I don't think it's really that bad. As in any school there is good and bad cliches and if a student knows how not to stray into the areas that doesn't offer good choices then I think the school system offers alot more plus's then negatives.

But of course so many people love to dwell on the negative side of things and can't encourage any of the positive aspects of a school system and then that is what usually sticks out in people's minds.

Anyways, glad to have you around and hope to see you in the forums.
