The School District of Jefferson recently received the good news that 2 members of it's teaching staff received National Board Certification (NBC).
Mrs. Bonnie Dimond, West Elementray grades 1/2 teacher, and Mrs. Jo Christianson, East Elementary Early Childhood teacher, have joined the ranks of over 47,000 other National Board Certification teachers in 50 states, overseas, and the Dis of Columbia
NBC is demonstration of teaching practices as measured against high and rigorus standards. It is a symbol of commitment to excellence in teaching. Offered on a voluntary basis to teachers with at least 3 yrs of teaching experience, the system of NBC complements but does not replace state licensing.
National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) was created in 1987 to establish high standards for what teachers need to know and be able to do, and to certify teachers who meet those standards.
