Mercer, Wisconsin, located in Iron county, is the "Loon Capitol of the World". See "Claire the Loon", an eighteen foot tall, 1 ton loon on Hy. 51 next to the Mercer Chamber of Commerce. A great photo oppertunity!

I found this interesting since I like to find out about different 'things to see' in and around our state.

I researched this a bit and this is what I found:

W"Claire d'Loon" was unveiled in May, 1981, and she has stood outside of the Mercer Chamber of Commerce building ever since. She weighs 2,000 pounds, stands 16 feet tall, and lends credibility to the town's claim as the "Loon Capital."orld's Third Largest Loon
