12-year wait over for bear hunter
Holly Rusch of Rural Manitowoc County drew a kill permit this year for black bear. She waited 12 years for a chance at a bear since she was in college and couldn't afford to take off from school until after graduation. Holly made a clean one-shot kill with her .270 Winchester. The bear weighed more than 300 pounds and was taken on Friday, Sept. 9, at 6:15 p.m. just outside of Dunbar.
DNR reports indicate that lots of bears are being harvested in the Dunbar area (Marinette County). Holly will be having a rug made for the wall with her trophy.
