Hunting season concern

With hunting season not too far away, I have begun to wonder if I should put a blaze orange halter or even a turnout sheet on my horses. My one mare is about the same shade of brown as some of the deer. I hesitate to use a orange halter, because I don't like to have the horses wearing one in the wooded area of the pasture, because it can get caught on something so easy. Our property borders alot of wooded areas, and it is very easy for someone to wander onto it, and not realize they are not in the hunting area that they thought they were, but next to the wooded area of our pasture.

Ayone else out there take precautions to prevent your horse from becoming a large deer in some trigger happy hunter's mind?

Both me and my husband hunt, so I have nothing against hunters at all, just that I know of too many times when a hunter has mistaken a PERSON for a deer, so it would be very easy to mistake a horse, especially a smaller yearling, for a deer.

Maybe I should start making blaze orange turn out sheets, with HORSE in big black letters on each side, and maybe some relfective tape along the edges,,,,,,,,, hmmmmm,,, brb, gonna go get me a patent LOLOL.

Seriously though, this to me is a major concern this hunting season, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

hunting season

I usually keep them close to the barn for the week of hunting. I have seen balze orange sheets at auctions. If you don't have an option of keeping them in a barn corral, I would opt for the turn out sheets or braid/tie blaze orange ribbon etc into manes & Tails. If a hunter mistakes a horse with that on them they are blind. Good luck

I actually found blaze orange turn out halters, with breakaway browbands on ebay for 5 bucks each, got one for each horse, gonna try the ribbons in the tail too, good idea.

Hunting season concern

There used to be a blaze orange "horse" vest on the market. It was similar to a shoulder slicker, but made of a mesh material. I haven't been able to locate anyone selling them. I was hoping to find someone here that might know where they could be found.
