Beers I have enjoyed
I realized this area is for Home Brewing but there are a ton of Micro-brews and medium sized brewerys out there for us lazy people to try. This is the reason I starting this thread.
I do enjoy beer, only I rarely can have more than two as I tend to get sleepy past the amount.
I have also found my loyalty changes all the time as my taste changes or the the beer consistancy changes, I am not sure.
So my short list
My all-time favorite because it is not always available, I drink it when I can.
Point
Bock
they make the best Bock out there- so sweet mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I like Point because they are a small brewery in Wisconsin.
Lienenkugel's
Honey Weiss
This depends on the batch but for the most part it is one smooooooooooooooth brew
A very long time while in Chicago on business I read a beer list in the hotel lounge, They had leinies listed as imported!!!!!!!!!!!!
I asked the bartender if they actaully went all the way to Wiscosin to Import that stuff????? he found no humor in it, but then that's what get with Illinois people.
Point
White Bier
This rocked when it was 1st introduced but the recipie has obviously changed. When I first tried it , it reminded me of Home Brew as it had a strong yeast taste, not annoying, strong but enjoyable. The last time I had it, that taste was not evident.
New Glarus
Spotted Cow
This to is inconsistant but when it is on taste as close as I will ever get to stuff I had in London, and London Ales were the VERY BEST I ever had.
When I want to watch my carb intake I found Michelobes Ultra Amber very good. Now it must be AMBER because the other stuff is discusting!!!
Oh and If I had to take one of those National brands, I would select Miller over Bud everytime.
What would you put on your short list and why?
share here please.

hmmm....beer........
Got to agree with the Honey Weiss from Leinie. Great Wisconsin brew. Had a couple while I was brewing on Sunday and had a new appreciation. Went down great with the aromas of brewing. I visit the brewery about once a year and I've met and been impressed by Dick Leinenkugel.
Spotted Cow...if you can't say something good, say nothing at all. >silence<
I like Hacker Pshorr Weiss and Dinkleacher a lot. Got in the spirit of them spending time in their beer tents at Oktoberfest in Munich.
I'd also take Miller over Bud anytime, and the Michelob Amber is great!
I drink Dos Equiis (sp?) when I'm eating Mexican.
Love Sprecher Root Beer. May try brewing some.
Had some great varieties of micro brew at a place in the Dells. Some very good ones in there. Nice ambiance with kettles on the mezzanine around a grand dining hall in a log structure.
Good subject.
Regards,
Keith

Captial Brewery Mai Bock
I was picking up some brewskis at Pick 'N Save this last weekend and checking out when the guy behind me said 'you really ought to try some of this" as he pointed to some Mai Bock from Capital Brewery in Madison. He said it is a seasonal that's been out about a week and some friends from Madison turned him onto it and he loved it.
I picked up a couple of six packs at his suggestion and I've got to say it is great! With all the work that goes into brewing the stuff I have a new appreciation, and I like the taste of the Mai Bock very much. It is full - a strong, flavorful presence that isn't the least bit overwhelming. The third and fourth (at home) went down just as well as the first couple (over lunch, then after work on Sunday) at work.
Regards,
Keith

Eastside is good...
Had an EastSide beer from LakeFront Brewery in Milwaukee last week and liked it a bunch. Got this one at Quarry Coffee on Main Street in Lannon, one of a couple of coffee shops with deli sandwiches that I've noticed carrying beer in the last week or so. Another reason to stop by...
Regards,
Keith

I used to go to this bar with some friends on 2nd and National (don't remember the name, they've since changed now) all the time. One day a week they had a special on New Glarus Spotted Cow. I have to say, it's much better on tap than in bottles.
Lienenkugel's is the best. All their brews are good!

A very long time ago, I was in Chicago on business staying at one of those motels in the burbs (employer was too cheep for Michigan ave),anyways they had a beer list in the lounge with Lienenkugel's listed in the imported section. I inquired of the bar tender
"WOW! do you meean to say that you went allllllllllllllllllllll the way to Wisconsin to Import Lienenkugel's ?". He did NOT find my q so amusing
but hey that's Illinois for you.
On another note I just returned from Arizona and had a few local micro brews.
Both were stouts.
In Flagstaff I had a Beaver Brew stout with chocolate and sweet like a Bock, very good.
In Prescott (forgot the micro brew name but the waiter was not friendly when I inquired about a cowboy brew, he said what is that?
I said not sure but with all these cowboys around here you should have one !!
Their stout was just ok nothing to think about repeating.

5 Year old Leinies...
First of all I just had a beer that I wouldn't normally drink...Leinenkugel's original...not a bad beer, just not much as far as flavor or body...I'm not much into "LawnMower" beers...
But anyway, it came from a stock of beer that my grandparents have that is their "Party/Guest" Beer...meaning they don't drink, especially beer, and this was only for guests...well now I have the sometimes solemn task of drinking it, because some of it is at least 5 years old...
We all know that Beer should be drank...waste not want not...
Well, surprisingly this beer still held it's flavor...it wasn't bad considering it was potentially 5 years old...
Now I would also like to say that I I will probably be in this forum quite a bit since I consider myself a "Connoisseur" of fine beers...and I am hoping to share more of the beers I've tried...and where I can find that...
Life's too short for cheap beer...and 5 year old party beer either...
Until Then,
Christian

Pipeline Porter...
I recently spent some time in the great state of Hawaii...and I wanted to do a brewery tour but it just never happened.
I did purchase a single bottle of beer at the ABC store near my sisters house called Pipeline Porter. I didn't get around to drinking it until Breakfast my last day...(that's right Breakfast, but when else was I going to drink it I was getting on a plane) it was a nice porter with Coffee essence, not to strong not to week. I'm a fan of the darker porters...I prefer porters with Coffee essence as opposed to Chocolate essence...Overall I really enjoyed this beer, it was smooth and refreshing and left a nice taste in your mouth.
Now, I recently got a chance to try the new Leninenkugel's Summer Shandy. And I'm a fan of Leinie's for the most part...but I think I prefer their standard line of beer over their seasonals. The new one has a strong, strong lemonade flavor, and obviously that's what they were going for, but Luckily I only had a sip, cause I don't think I could have taken down a whole bottle. Maybe, I will give it another try.

Re: Beers I have enjoyed
Homebrewing and Microbrewing enjoy a love relation. My own club of homebrewers D.U.F.F Club are currently preparing for a competition with several other Homebrew clubs that will be hosted at a Brew Pub in Wausau Wisconsin - the Hereford & Hops . Then the brewpub will actually brew the winning homebrewers beer! How cool is that?
While your at the D.U.F.F Club web site, check out the April book of the month. It's called "The Wisconsin Beer Guide - a Travel Companion" and it lists 72 breweries and Brewpubs in our state! Buy the book and you get something free at about 80% of the breweries... like free beer! Awesome!
