I need avatar help (among other things....)
I got it to work once, but not today at all. The little outfit seems to fit all the requirements, but when I 'submit', I get:
"The avatar filetype must be .jpg, .gif or .png"
Now according to the tag it is a ".gif"
(...../smileys/dog. gif)
So, what am I doing wrong, that it 'won't take'?

Avatars can be selected by going to you member profile and clicking "your info" .
I a list of member avatars are listed to pick from.
Enter your password the re-enter your password then click submit.
Custom Avatars may still be a MOD only option..check with a staff member to verify.

Judy-
Are you trying to upload from your machine, upload from a url, or link to an off-site image? And are you in the "Your Info" (which is for the site in general) or in the forum "Profile" (which is just settings for the forum)?
You shouldn't have to enter your password on your profile unless you're changing it.
Interestingly, it shows as being uploaded in the admin section, just not assigned to a user, so I'm guessing you are in your forum profile and using one of the two uploads?

That's correct. And I got to my profile settings through the slection bar at the top of the forums, as that is the only one (that I have found so far) that takes me to the place where I can chang settings and such, like time, notifications, signature, avatar, etc.

Ok, that should be ok now. You may need to clear your cache before you see the image, but it's there now.
It looks like the area where it saves the name of the image had some forum code in it instead of just the name of the image file, and that's why it was showing up as a broken image. You shouldn't have any more trouble with it.
