What are the advantages of having someone as a "friend"? 8)

You can show people how popular you are! The personal journals also have a "friends only" option where only your friends can read the entry.

All my friends are just one click away from my profile. I can right-click on their names and open new windows on a bunch at a time to see what they're up to, send a message, see what they're selling in the classifieds or have written in their journals - and it makes me only one link away from them, too.

Besides that, if you and I have a friend in common I'll know it when I visit your page because your page will show " me - friend - you " and that tells me we're "connected" by a mutual friend. I think this works out to "3 degrees of separation." That means you - friend one - friend two - me. Pretty cool, huh?!

This can be a great tool for social networking. You can visit my friends and see if any are friends of you or friends of your friends, or your friend's friend's friend. Hmmmm...... :lol:

Friends are nice 'cause sometimes they'll watch your pets and bring in your mail when you're traveling.

Click on a members profile or nickname link and in his/her profile is a link marked "* Add (the member) to your friends list"
Most friends are added while signing new members guestbooks or clicking on interests ("great tool for social networking"^) that match yours.
Most members will be your friend if requested but 2% tend not respond due to low web use or do not see your request in their profile. So in that case you may want to also PM them of your request.
