Arrow Question on the classifieds

I've read some of the classified ads posted here and I noticed the links in the ads aren't clickable. Is it set up so the links can't be clicked? That would make sense because of spam.

I was thinking of adding a couple of classifieds and I wanted to host the images elsewhere and add a url to the images in the ad. I'm thinking it's not possible for the classifieds right?

I see that I can upload an image for the ad. Is there a limit of 1 photo per classified ad? I was thinking something like 4 photo uploads would really get people motivated to start selling on the Bubbler. I know it would for me

Also a preview button would be awesome.

Thanks

Re: Question on the classifieds

I noticed the classifieds are mixed in with the forum topics now. I realize this is a great way to bring more awareness to the ads. But is there a way to maybe make two sections? One 'box' for the new forum topics/comments, and another with the new ads? I noticed a few times I clicked quickly on the next topic to read and found myself looking at an ad instead. Now I have to look closer at each one to make sure I am not doing that. It also breaks up the forum comments. And I'm sure for those that want to check the ads listed they would have the same issue.

Most ads are self explanatory on the title but sometimes someone may put a comment on and title it similar because it is something they want to talk about.

Such as 'great cars'..and then add a story about cars or pictures they want to show..but you quickly click on because you are looking for a car and think they are cars for sale.

One thing I thought of, on the very right side where it lists what 'forum' the topic is in, (how many people now really look there when skimming down the list quickly), is to make all the 'ad' listing a different color or bold. Only in the very right side box not the whole thing. I think the whole line would be distracting to the other topics. Hope that makes sense.

Just my thoughts.

Re: Question on the classifieds

I agree PK a 'new posts' link for ads & forum posts seperate would make sense.

For some reason viewing new posts is a pain for me unless they are all on one page, & with the classifieds mixed in, i cant easily do that anymore, though i visit several times a day. I am not interrested in the ads, however for those who are looking at the ads, i'm sure they are running into the same problem with forum posts being mixed in.

Thanks!

I just check in now to see what was going on and had to wade through a line of classifieds to get to the forums. More than usual I think. Kinda annoying to say it nicely.

Re: Question on the classifieds

Thanks, Mike.. Keith and I had talked about that as well and I didn't know if he'd mentioned it.. in one sense, it's good because it means the ads are being looked at and on ther other hand, it can be frustrating if all you're interested in are the new forum topics.

It's great the ads are getting more 'focus' placed on them. But it's not good if it takes away from the forum. It is frustrating to see the two 'mixed' up. To me it looks messy.

One thing that is a fact with people, they like things fast and easy when dealing with a website. Some would call it lazy. They don't like to work for what they want to read. I think of it as people enjoy an easy access to what they want because time is important. Everyone has a time line in their heads now a days and if they have to wade through what they don't want to read it takes 'time' and they will get turned off or just skip it.

Make it easy and they will stay.

That's just my thought on it.

Thanks, Mike...and everyone who posted in this thread.

A lot of issues to resolve yet, and we will. Just likely to be when we can devote some undivided attention, like a coming weekend.

Regards,
Keith
