Voting Problems

Just had someone tell me that they tried to vote tonight and could not do so.

I have prodded this person for quite some time to sign up and join us and finally she did so because of the photo contest and then the vote would not work for her. I'll find out more details and let you know.

Re: Voting Is Now Open!

In order to vote you have to be logged into the site. Sometimes people don't realize they aren't logged in.

Re: Voting Is Now Open!

I would think if she signed up she would be logged in. You can't sign up without logging in I wouldn't think...but that is something to mention and I will ask today if I talk to her.

Like I said before, this photo contest certainly seems to be a learning experience for everyone. lol The next one should be a breeze.

(it made me change my avaitar) lol

If you don't check the little box remember me, or if you do not have your browser set to save that type of information, you won't be logged in the next time you visit the site.

Depending on your settings a viewer may need to login each time they visit the site. Many functions do not work unless logged in.

Just spoke to her this morning again and still no luck. She's pretty savvy with computers (she's a college grad, and has done work with computers/billing/etc. etc. for years) so she knows how to log in etc in order for things to work. I never check the box to remember me..I always log in each and every time I come on the site and I'm sure she is the same way.

Not sure what the problem is at this point. She has tried everything right and the 'vote' buttons simply do not appear. So it is a mystery. Has to be something we are missing with her computer?

Not really a biggie just one of those things that makes you want to keep picking at it until you figure it out lol ...I will just tell her if she still wants to vote to just stop by here and log on my computer and go from there.

Re: Voting Problems

I'm forever being logged out even though it shows my name as logged in on the left side.

I can click to reply to something and a message box comes up saying I'm visiting as a guest and will need to log in to reply.....BUT if you look to the left, there I am under Online Users.

Does not matter if the little box is checked or unchecked. Not sure why it happens and I never know when it's going to happen.

I can post, go read and ready to post and be logged out....and had no clue it happened.

I would have her come to your house, login and see if she can vote on your computer. Maybe it is something with her computer.

Yes, the vote had to be placed from my computer. Something is just weird with her computer I think. We can't figure it out. Thanks for all your input on this also.

Re: Voting Problems

With 2 weeks of major computer headaches, on Saturday I gave in and zapped the hard drive clean and am starting over from scratch. I would not even consider doing that until I was able to back up all my stuff, which was a headache itself because something snuck in and rewrote my registry, my flies, my passwords etc......
