Oak Creek program helps prevent pain of tumbles
Oak Creek - The city's Health Department is busy fighting falls and flu.
Community Public Health Officer Judi Price said two programs simultaneously are sharing her department's attention: the usual seasonal influenza vaccinations and a fall prevention initiative called Stepping On.
Frequent and costly falls
Stepping On, initiative fueled by a five-year grant and a partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin, helps participants on how to prevent falls. This includes strength and balance exercises, home safety check suggestions, and a review of medications.
