Would You Give Up A Body Part To Become A Bionic Man Or Woman?
Was reading the other day about two men who elected to voluntarily have their hands amputated (neither man's hands were functional) to be replaced by mechanical or bionic hands that could do things their normal hands could not have done.
Would you elect to do the same or perhaps have an eye removed and replaced with one that would allow you to see great distances or in other spectrums? Have a brain implant to allow you to directly access the internet or listen to the radio or receive phone calls?
Re: Would You Give Up A Body Part To Become A Bionic Man Or Woman?
Would I give up a perfectly good working body part for a possible chance of a bionic one working better? no.
Would I give up a body part that is not functioning, a useless limb, an eye that is blind etc. to receive a part that would give me an enhanced life? yes.

I would really have a difficult time giving up an arm or leg that is working good just to have something super human like.
But if they came around and told me that I could get super eye sight after being as blind as I am without glasses I would really have to think about it.

I'd say that with cochlear implants, insulin pumps, kidney dialysis and all the various devices used to assist failing hearts many (most?) people would.

Yes, we're already there in some respects, though our kids / grandkids will be doing elective surgeries, not to make up for failings or deficiencies, but to enhance.
