Back when I was taking my Typography class we had gone into the whole history of type and how history shaped what type styles were used. During the Black Death/Bubonic plague time period the type styles created showed little illustrations of death on the capital letters. The Spanish flu was also brought up in my class. My teacher said we haven't had a pandemic in a long time and were due for one. That was 3 years ago.
