I am always wondering how to eat fast, but still eat food that has less fat.
It's so easy to run through the drive thru at McDonald's, grab a burger and coke and eat on the run. Or grab a bag of food to take home from Wendy's when you don't have time to cook.
In today's society of always meeting appointments, or rushing kids from school to whatever, etc. etc.. we just simply don't have the time to go home and cook a good balanced, low fat, meal or watch our calories. The fast food chains know this and that is why they reap the benefits of our busy lives.
Well here is at least a way to try to figure out a head a time a plan as to what to buy when running through the fast lane at Burger King, Taco Bell, or any other 'convenient' drive through. Hopefully this will give some power back when you are choosing a fast fix for dinner/lunch/ or breakfast.
We all have stopped at a Arbys at one time or another. And let's face it, some of their food sounds pretty lean. But are they? What is the best choices?
Check here to see what really is in the food you eat there:
HOME OF THE WHOOPER. And the tons of calories too.
DOUBLE WHOPPERŽ Sandwich with Cheese has a whopping 1010 calories!
add a large fry: 580
Vanilla Milk Shake (Value 12 fl oz) 270 calories
total for lunch: 1860 calories!! WOW.
Next time choose a:
veggie burger at only 420 calories
Garden Salad 80
diet coke 0.
and you can afford dessert
BK Fresh Apple Fries 80 calories
total: 580. See the difference a little planning can do?
We all love to stop at Chili's from time to time don't we? But what is good to eat that won't add the pounds on?
Actually looking over the menu with the calories I see quite a few different combinations you could create to get good food and save on the calories and fat.
We all have our cravings from time to time and you just saw that new Krispy Kreme place and have to stop. What is the best thing to order you wonder that won't kill your calorie intake for the day?
Oh how I love to stop here. But since our Long John Store burned down several years ago I have to travel more to eat here so it doesn't happen to often now.
Anyways, check out the menu here and another thing I noticed if you click on the category section it also will give you a comparison chart of other places with the same type of food, such as a french fries here is compared to Burger King etc.
OK, I know everyone has stopped at a McDonald's at least once in their lives! lol But what are you really eating? Well we all know eating here can be fattening...but what if we are creative with what we choose. After all a side salad instead of fries is only 20 calories. Maybe we could all survive eating at McDonald's with the right choices.
I don't know about other locations but our Popeye's offer 1/2 off chicken night on Tuesdays. What a deal! We buy enough for everyone to pig out on and have leftovers for the next day or so. I hate to think of the calories...yikes. But in case you want to see what you could eat that is healthier than a huge box of chicken check here:
We have all heard of how subway has great low fat sandwiches but which ones are they? Check the following and read up on just what to order to help with the fat here:
Checking it out I was surprised to see a single with everything is 430 calories! But a double stack no cheese comes in at 360. But wait, there are other things with better calories and fat content. Check it out before ordering (especially the salad section ) to see how you can save:
Almost think this is worth printing these off and keeping in a folder in the van so I can check what is good. Or maybe just copy the best of all the places and condense it on one sheet. Either way it would be good to have some form of a copy to take with.
I think many so-called fast food places are pushing the "healthy" aspect of their foods and are trying to offer a healthier menu for the most part.
One problem is: healthy is often not cheap.. it's often cheaper to offer the less healthy alternative. Anyone who's ever tried to shop "healthy" at the grocery can probably attest to that. Healthy foods, plus overhead, mean higher prices at the drive-thru window.. are you willing to pay for that?
There is a book out that covers what to eat instead at the fast food places. I've seen the book. The items aren't all low calorie, but it helps to choose the lower calorie of the two items sometimes when we don't know for sure. Sometimes that chicken Caesar salad is 1000 calories and the chicken sandwich is "only" 400 calories. The book points that out that calories can be hidden.
Checking the place mat at Burger King the other day.. many of the foods served there (without mayo in particular) are low calorie.. this thread makes for an interesting topic.
Trends seem to be toward healthier "fast foods".. hope to see it continue.
