Plans are in the works for a large veterans medical center to be built in Brown County.
The news came out Monday morning at a news conference of veterans and government leaders.
The 70,000-square foot Brown County VA Medical Center will allow them to increase the number of veterans being served from 2,500 to 15,000.
"As they say, you never forget the veteran. It doesn't make any difference which war it is, and they're coming in greater numbers now, and it's a great facility and these guys need it right now, the newer ones. They don't have to go all the way down to Milwaukee, they can get it right here in Green Bay," said Gary Beck, a disabled veteran.
Money for the center is in President Bush's funding request.
It's hoped the facility will open in 2011.
