Herbs and Your Health
Herbs are some of the most powerful medicines known on earth, and are available without a prescription. These super remidies are one of nature's best cures. Nowadays more people are finding themselves taking more responsibility for their own health. Herbs allow people to maintain and restore themselves, even in the face of serious or long-term illness. Herbs have been used to treat everything from arthritis to cancer, heart disease, obesity, asthma and ulcers. There have been an overwhelming number of satisfied users to discount the effectiveness of herbs.
So what is a Herb well they are any plants that can be used to season our food or for medicinal conditions. These includes trees, shrubs, flowers, vines and ferns. Regardless of their appearance, all herbs contain one or more active ingredient such as vitamins and minerals, enzymes and essential oils. Non-toxic by nature, herbs can be taken individually, or can be combined with other herbs. It is this non-toxic nature of herbs that make them safe and effective to use for a multitude of aliments.
Herbs are gentle remedies that have a mild, yet profound affect on the body. Unlike prescription medicines, which suppress symptoms, herbs work to restore balance within the body. Herbs work to tone the body's organs and glands, to supply the body with vitamins, nutrients and help the body to relieve itself of toxic accumulations. This makes the body stronger and allows our natural internal healing processes to begin.

One way to use this is to take a big handful of mullein leaves, cover them with milk, and barely simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Careful not to scald the milk! Then strain into a mug, and sweeten with honey. This light green sweetness will definitely calm your cough, relax your muscles, and help you get to sleep.
A quicker and more direct way to calm and clear the lungs, is to smoke it! Yep, dry it and smoke it. Just 2 or 3 hits of mullein smoke will make it all better...for a couple hours or so. The 1st puff will be harsh; try not to cough too hard. Then try to hold in a 2nd and 3rd puff. Then stop. Don't overdo it! Too much will be a bad thing! So don't plan on making a habit of it either. It would soon stop working and start damaging you instead.
And please don't think this will get you high. That's just stupid. It is just a good way to get you out of an emergency; that's all.
Hard to believe, I know. But it works.

Hi Foragist, I thought this would also be good under the herb catagory. Hope you don't mind!
