TEA AND HEALTH

Tea, which was first discovered by the Chinese thousands of years ago, was not only known to be a natural drink but also a healthy one. Scientific evidence has proved that it has its positive effects on the body and experts believe that besides vegetable and fruit, tea forms a very healthy diet for all ages.

Tea is considered a hydrating fluid and could be recommended as a daily intake of fluid.

Tea contains a variety of minerals and vitamins in small quantities, which is partly essential for maintaining health.

Tea has no calories provided it is taken without milk and sugar.

Tea is a natural source of fluoride, which is one of the essential ingredients required for strong and healthy teeth. Many agree that tea contains several oral health benefits. Tea is tooth friendly and studies show that it is invaluable in the fight against tooth decade.

Tea is recommended to patients and also should be encouraged by parents to give their children instead of sweet drinks, which are generally harmful to teeth.

Surveys carried out show that tea, rather than mineral waters and sweet drinks are very good for sportsmen especially as a fluid replacement after exercise.

Tea, which contains antioxidant flavonoids substantially, reduces the risk of heart attacks and protects against lung, Colon, Digestive, breast and prostate cancer.

Studies have also shown tea's positive effect on heart deceases and a high concentriation of flavonoids in tea reduces blood clotting and the deposition of cholesterol in the blood vessels.

Thank you AJE for this informative comment showing what each tea is for. I always get it mixed up when I'm looking for what tea I want. Now I have a quick reference guide right here on the bubbler.

I know there are many healthy uses for tea besides drinking it. The one I found interesting:

Driving out mosquito. After making brewed tealeaves dry in sun, one can burn them in summer evenings. The scent of burnt tealeaves can drive out mosquito with an effect resembling that of mosquito-repellent incense, and at the same time, it will do no harm to the users.

Always looking for ways to keep mosquitos away when we are on our patio and I hate spraying unhealthy bug spray especially when we are trying to bring food out.

Just remembered another use of tea bags:

Dentists recommend putting cold wet tea bags over your stitches when you have a tooth or wisdom teeth removed. It aids in the healing process and reduces the bleeding.

Chamomile

Chamomile is one of the oldest garden herbs, whose reputation as a medicinal plant shows little signs of abatement. Considered a universal remedy by the ancient Egyptians, Chamomile continues to be used today to battle illness, promote calm and relieve anxiety at bedtime. As a tisane (herbal tea), it is naturally caffeine-free. The finest varieties of Chamomile, of which our tea is great example, continue to come from Egypt. If you have yet to try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised by its superior flavor.
At the link posted below, you'll find facts on a variety of teas.

I like tea...

I like tea, and I'm learning some things here, however...

I can't live without my coffee!

Cool thing is, a month or two ago the news on coffee purported that COFFEE may be the best antioxidant around! And that, unlike most things that are fine in moderation coffee's antioxidant benefits appear to increase the more you drink it!

That's good, because I drink a few pots a day!

I'm gonna live forever!!!

Regards,
Keith
