Things to do and see in Cassville.
Cassville is an historic village right on the shores of the Mississippi River in SW Wisconsin. Cassville is the main home of Wisconsin's 1st governor, Nelson Dewey. Mr. Dewey arrived in Cassville in 1836, and after serving 2 terms as our 1st governor, he returned to Cassville and built Stonefield, his 2000 acre estate. This estate is now divided into 3 parts, Nelson Dewey State Park, Stonefield, and Stonefield Village, all of which are overseen by DNR & State Historic Society, respectively.
See the Denniston House, built in 1836 to hold the new territorial legislature and supreme court should Cassville be named capital. We lost to Madison by 1 vote!
