Today's Technology Meets the Past

US scientists at Carnegie Mellon university have developed a 3D scan technology which is aiding in revealing who is buried in a 200 year old cemetery.

Moss, debris, dirt and wear often make it difficult to read many older tombstones. This new technology scans the object and aids in distinguish the hidden inscriptions and carvings. They plan to use this same technology to aid archaeologists in deciphering ancient runes.

It also fascinated me when Christina Jimenez reported this same technology can be used to scan one's tongue and determine illnesses.

You can read more here (including a photo of the tombstone before and what they were able to enhance with the scan):

In a cemetery in England...
Remember man, as you walk by,
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so shall you be.
Remember this and follow me.

...someone replied by writing:
To follow you I'll not consent until I know which way you went.

Re: Today's Technology Meets the Past

Cool tech post...

...now if they're smart, they'll get one of these scanners in your hands!

Regards,
Keith
