Wisconsin Zoos

Hi all, I would like folks to add memos of the many zoos across the Dairy Heartland. You may include what sort of animals, reptiles, and birds they have available for the public to see. Why you were pleased with the facility? Did you have any moments (hilarious or photography) that you could share with the bubbler? Lastly, leave a website for the interested and or any other usefull information please.

Oshkosh Northwestern

It may have been one of the easiest decisions Mark Schultz ever made.

He owned a herd of 50 American bison, elk and other animals on his farm about 10 miles south of Oshkosh. Having a zoo, he said, seemed like a logical thing to do.

Schultz, who is a contractor specializing in demolition and excavation, has carried out his dream of opening a zoo to the public at his Glacier Ridge Animal Farm on Ridge Road.

"About four years ago, I decided to put this together and it's a workaholics dream. I have the equipment and the building knowledge to do something like this," he said. "We just love our animals and it's nice for someone else to come and enjoy them."

Zoo's

Henry Vila's Zoo
Madison

We wanted to do a day trip and Madison is less than 2 hours from us. We decided on the Henry Villa's Zoo and was so impressed. For being a FREE Zoo we certainly was surprised by the many animals, the nice surroundings, and over all very nice time we had. We would recommend this Zoo over some of the larger Zoos we have paid to go to.

Thanks for the post here. I think Amber (AJE above) added a link to Henry Vilas to our directory. I think it was even a featured site in our weekly Water Cooler News within the last year.

We appreciate your personal experience.

Regards,
Keith
