Wisonsin: What Bank Do You Use?

So, what bank do you use (and why)?

Been a long time customer or just started using it?

Do you prefer banks or credit unions?

Just curious but isn't this almost to personal to ask on a website where we have spammers, unknown visitors, etc lurking about? I know I read all the time never to put your full name or your real (correct) birthday and watch what you say if you are going out of town and mention it only after you have been back. So I feel a bit uneasy announcing where I bank. Just my thoughts I could be totally wrong?

PK, I'm not sure, but good question. I don't like using my real name on things. I don't even use my full name on Twitter and only place you'll find my real name online is one of my FB pages and my portfolio. Otherwise I use nicknames.

I know I'm new here but I was thinking the same thing.

Let's just say my main bank is one of the top 3 largest in the US for pure convenience and the other is a local credit union for accounts I don't want to see on a daily basis and small loans.

Well, a general answer would work, not a specific branch or location.. I'd certainly have no problem mentioning Bank of America or other bank name as it would do little good without my other particulars.

I've been with my bank since I moved to the area in 2005.. free checking, no minimum balance attracted me.. Bank of America would not accept my account for some reason.

I totally understand when others say they are hesitant to mention their bank name, full name etc. I can say our bank name but not the branch etc but still it's not difficult to find out my full name, the fact that I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin take that with the name of the bank and it makes sense that I bank here and there you have it. I really have no idea if connecting all of that gives any insight on how to do anything to me or my account but I am very careful with the few pennies I have left. lol

Years back our account was hacked and a transaction was done from a place over seas (I think it was Japan) and they purchased books, movies etc from a store on the East Coast (U.S.). The bank had no answers as to how it happened but it was traced back to over seas and in the end we got our money, the store I think lost theirs, and they could never go after the overseas group as they moved on quickly.

Anyways, I think it's safe to say we know more about if a member uses 1 or 2 ply toilet paper over or under the roll holder, when we are sick, etc. etc... but leave the money alone.
