"Baraboo is likely to exceed last year's record number of shoplifting offenses, according to police. We could come very close to it or surpass the 105 shoplifting incidents we had last year," Lt. Rob Sinden said. If the trend continues through Dec. 31, it would be the highest the Baraboo Police Department has ever recorded in a year - at least since 1997, the first year the state's Office of Justice Assistance made shoplifting records available.
