It's probably the biggest murder case in Wisconsin's history. Laurie Bembenek was convicted in 1982 for the murder of her then-husband's ex-wife. The case is filled with lots of planted evidence, lost reports/evidence and police corruption. I always thought she was innocent based on all the things I've read, including her book. I think that her then-husband hired someone to kill the ex-wife. He had everything to gain from it.
I always wanted to see this case solved and Laurie spent her whole life trying to clear her name. May she now rest in peace finally and haunt Fred Schultz for the rest of his life.
She never went by the name Bambi. You can thank the media for that. She also wasn't a Playboy bunny, but a cocktail waitress for 3 weeks at the former Playboy Club in Lake Geneva. She never posed nude. She was also a model for a local department store, but only modeled clothes, not even lingerie. The media tries to paint a bad picture of her, but she wasn't like that.
I was only saying that is the name I recall.. when you said Laurie, I googled Bambi as the name I associated with Bembenek and saw they were one and the same..
