Of course, it's bad enough people are getting sick off eggs but now they are even going to cost more for awhile. Can't win.
Egg prices jump with news of salmonella threat
Egg prices for wholesalers have gone up an average of 18 cents a dozen since Monday, when word of a salmonella outbreak began to spread.
And the outbreak that has sickened hundreds and led to the recall of 380 million eggs from an Iowa producer likely will grow, federal health officials said Thursday.
That's because illnesses occurring after mid-July may not be reported yet, said Christopher Braden, an epidemiologist with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
