WASHBURN — There's more than one way to travel home. One could drive, fly, ride the rails or take a bus, for instance. Max Lindsey chose the mode less traveled and biked 1,450 miles — 315 of which he did in one 24-hour stretch — from Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison to his mother's house in Washburn.

I just read this story on the Daily Press site.
Washburn is just around Chequamegon bay from me. I stop that way weekly.

Wow did he put on the miles. The farthest I rode was to Iron River and back, around 54 miles or so.

My longest ride in a day was about 40 miles or so total.. all flat, featureless terrain.. boring!

I'd like to ride more. Haven't ridden in a few years now.

My buddy and I are hoping to bike our local Katy Trail.. 200 miles or so.
