What's the smallest town in Wisconsin you've ever visited or lived in? Do you like small town living or do you prefer the "big city"?
I lived in Hortonville for 13 years with a population less than 2000. That was before phone service went digital and you only needed 5 numbers to call anyone in town. I do like small towns despite the gossip (I never gave them anything to gosip about).
I have been to many small towns in Wisconsin but never paid much attention to the population Statistics.
a few that come to mind

Saxville ( an no one is horny there) despite the fact that in my teens someone would mark their sign as SEXFILLED ever time they hung a new sign.
I just can't think of names right now but I probably have been to most of them.

....Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen
It didn’t take too long to find out
Just what he was talkin’ about
A lot of people don’t have much food on their table
But they got a lot of forks ’n’ knives
And they gotta cut somethin’....

Sextonville, where I live, has only a mere 156 houses and a post office. I know because I counted them all LOL The town five miles from here, Ithaca, where I went to high school has only about 25 houses, one church, the K-12 school and a bar. The next town down the highway, Loyd, has even less with only about 12 homes. There used to be a store and a church there but they are both houses now and the old school is a community center. There are numerous small towns and villages around here. Some are so small that if you blink while driving through you will miss them completely!
I prefer the small town living rather than the big city. I've been to New York City and didn't care for it at all! There is just something about a small town that is so appealing and it just feels like home to me. I guess that's because I was mostly raised in the country. I also like that you know all your neighbors and most of them are there for you if you need them. Yup...I like our little "Mayberry" here.
Smallest town I ever went to was Pumpkin Center and yet they still had a bar even with about 5 houses, if that. Only in Wis. will you find a bar in the smallest of towns.
I live in what I consider to be a small town with a population of 23,000. Even with that not many good restaurants and sure isn't enough stores to get what you need. If you need something for your house, plan on driving out of town, because you won't find it here.
I'd rather live closer to Milwaukee, but not in Milwaukee. More in the outskirts so I don't have to drive all the time (like we do now) for all the fun stuff or just to find stores with what you need.
Cindy, I wouldn't compare all 'big' cities to NYC. That place is huge, much bigger than most places, if not the biggest city in the US. Milwaukee is a good size for a big city and not so congested like NYC or Chicago. I always say that Milwaukee is a big city with a small town feel to it, because it has all the things you need, but not so crowded like larger cities.
