I remember when I was a kid finding ways to have fun meant being creative. We use to go out and build snow houses all the time. Back then we use to have a bunch of snow and had 'real' winters which meant when it snowed, it usually stayed around until Spring.
Anyone have snow fort/house stories to share?
Wisconsin man builds 58-foot-long snow house
When Tom Kramer was 7, there were no video games to tempt or distract him on long winter days so he headed outdoors and built his first snow house.
It was a crude and small, he said, recalling how he added a couple of boards on top as a makeshift roof, but not bad for a beginner.
He did it, he said, because it was fun.
"It seemed the right thing to do. I saw pictures of others building snow houses and figured if they can do it, so can I and it just snowballed, no pun intended."
By the time he was 12, Kramer was creating his snow houses by building a pile of crusted, hard-packed snow then hollowing it out.
Every year, he got a little taller, and so did the houses.
