Can you imagine getting a bite of this cheese? Wish they were giving samples out around here.
Just wondering, how many love cheese and would love to buy a pound of this to eat?
15-year-old Wis. cheddar sells for $50 per pound
A 15-year-old cheddar made in Wisconsin, possibly the most mature cheese for sale in the country, is selling well despite the $50-per-pound price tag, its producer said Saturday.
Hook's 15-year Sharp Cheddar, produced in 1994, went up for sale in a handful of outlets on Friday and has proven popular, said cheese maker Tony Hook.
Just a thought...maybe we can have a poll sometime on what is your favorite cheese? Colby, Cheddar, etc... or did we do a poll like this already? I'll have to check the polls and see.
If we did have a poll I'm sure I voted for Colby, it's my favorite.
Chocolate cheese is good too, but can't eat too much of that at one time.
You know about chocolate cheese?? Thought I was the only one that loves it. Every time I mention chocolate cheese to someone they never know what I am talking about.

Cheese Curds?? Again Carol, I love cheese curds and know very few people that has ever heard let alone tried them before. At least around here.
I thought everyone in Wis. knew what cheese curds were. Lots of restaurants have them breaded and deep fried, along with lots of festivals having them.
I remember a girl from one of my classes that was from Connecticut originally and asked what was up with the cheese curds. I guess I thought they had them all over in grocery stores.
Seems like coated and deep fried is called different things other than cheese curds. Cheese curds are usually in little bags at the store and look like, ... lumps. lol We always call them squeaky cheese since you hear that squeak noise on your teeth when you bite into one.
Thinking about it I remember the first time I found Chocolate Cheese was up in Mt Horeb in a cheese store. I tried it and fell in love with the taste and the texture of it. At that time it was the only place we could find Chocolate Cheese so it was a real treat to buy it when we went up there.
Then I found it down here at the Wisconsin Cheese Store and then at a local deli has it. Last summer we found it in Milwaukee on a trip there. So it seems it is getting around more finally.
I've heard them called squeaky cheese before. I don't pay much attention to what the deep fried variety are called. Probably because I never order that. Nothing like taking something fattening and deep frying in fat lol. Not that fried cheese curds or mozzarella sticks don't taste good, just so fattening.

Sendik's, they have a walk-in cheese cooler. Everything from your affordable to really expensive cheese. I bet Brennan's has it too, but I haven't been to one in years. My dad keeps asking me if I tried the new Brennan's in Oconomowoc, but our hobby isn't going to grocery stores like his is. My husband delivers to grocery stores all week long so he doesn't want to go to one for entertainment too often.
Carol, Breselow's in Watertown has a good selection of cheeses. That's the former Tom's United Foods by the police station in case you don't know.
UUMMMMM where is the police station? Is this that store on the same side of the road as Farm and Fleet next to the rail road tracks just after passing that huge church on the corner as you turn left heading to the store?

I come down by you to get my chocolate cheese! A place just off i-94. Forget it's name. I drive by scenery too much!

lol
LOL ~ OK PK... Squeeky Cheese. I was just going to say that in a new screen until I read it here! LOL

No grocery stores by Farm & Barn, so I don't know what you mean. Breselow's is on 2nd and Cady streets. Just a few blocks of Main st. 2nd does intersect with Main. Just follow the cops back hahaha.

Oh it's sooo good.
Wiscosin Cheese Store...that might be it. Is that the place right off I-94. It's rather big. Not far from an A & W
A really good cheese I like and that's getting harder to find is this wedge of port wine cheese. It's marbled through the cheese so it's light yellow from the cheese with pink marbled through it. It's a sharper cheese so a little piece goes a long way when putting it on crackers. Not the cheapest stuff in the world. I used to get it at Piggly in Hartland and I used to see it at Sentry-Delafield, but not this last time. I did see another brand like it at Sentry, but it was even more expensive. Cheese isn't a cheap thing to buy.

Brennans is nice. They have anything and everything you can imagine. Samples out all the time too. But are they ever expensive!
Example. They had pumpkins for $15.00 and $20.00. The exact same darn pumpkins down the road at Aldi's were $3.00 each. LOL
The fruit and veggies are out of this world though, along with the cheese. They also have a huge wine section, and any type of beer you can imagine.
I'll have to go to Brennan's again. I'm sure my dad just likes to go because of samples. That's why he likes the new Hyvee in Madison (which went in the old Kmart). I didn't think they had all that many samples when we went. I counted about 4 or 5. Last time we went it was the same kind of samples. I would rather go to Woodman's where they have everything, even if they don't have all the samples.
I have to stop in at Piggly in Oconomowoc again. That was a nice store. I could catch both places on my way home from work since I go through Cooney. I bet you like Oconomowoc's nickname, Carol.
You should try the Sentry in Delafield. I can never get past the bakery and deli area they have so much stuff. They even have one of those olive bars and a salad bar. They have a hot chicken wing bar. Lots of cheeses and lunch meats. They have all kinds of prepared foods like meatballs, pot pies, stuffed sweet potatoes, loaded mashed potatoes. All kinds of goodies.
