Here's a video highlighting local Wisconsin artists at the Eagle Historical Society Museum's 2008 Art Gallery.
Some of the artists featured include: Martin Murk, Rose Raiter, Carol Sundquist, Stephanie Kalnes, William Krestan, Tom Shropshire, Ann Mayer, Beth Martineau, Audrey Casey, Charlotte Fung Miller, Kenneth Reichert, Margaret Richards, Sterling Jones, and Margaret Sullivan.
On September 25th, 2008, Tami Hughes of Milwaukee Fox 6 News covered the temporary public art in Sherman Park organized by IN:SITE. Includes comments from SPCA Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative Organizer, Wendy Washinton and artists, Stephanie Davidson and Georg Rafailidis. It also includes the work of Kamryn K. Boelk and reaction to the artwork from members of the public.
I remember a woman a few years back...around 2000 or so that had her artwork displayed at The Market in Watertown and also at art fairs in the area. Her name was Colleen Lavake and she could draw with such detail. I forgot where she was from but I'm thinking it was Fort Atkinson or Janesville area.
My friend Ellen does some really nice artwork, but she doesn't have a website at the moment otherwise I'd post it. I know she was planning on it. Her style is a lot different than mine. She uses a lot of patterns and shapes. While my style is more realistic.
I'm not from Wisconsin but I did do some painting and drawing in years past.. had a painting displayed at a movie theater once. I really can't draw well but am great at copying..
I love to stop in at Lemon Street Gallery here in Kenosha to view local artist's work from our area. They not only show case art work (paintings etc) but include all forms of art.
My goal is to someday have some of my photos for sale in Lemon Street.
A week ago I donated 2 of my photos to be placed in the Kenosha Orchestra Booster Tea for the silent auction. Before dropping them off my daughter stopped in to Lemon Street and without the owner knowing the photos were actually her 'mom's' and thought they were simply two pieces that was going in the auction, told my daughter she totally loved the pictures and found them very good. To say the least I was thrilled to hear the owner of this gallery liking my work. She also valued them much higher than I ever imagined they would be. Cool.

I'm like you for the most part Dave. I am great at copying pictures from magazines, photos, etc., but I have a harder time sketching still life. Some day I would love to learn to do paintings on canvas.
My mom used to draw and paint all the time when I was growing up and each of my siblings has some talent in that department. My mom gave me all of her drawings and watercolor pictures she ever did. I just might have some in my computer files. I will have to check and maybe post some. She used to love to copy pictures of pin up girls from calendars to send to my dad in the Navy.
I always wanted to be an artist but have always had a problem with perspective..
