Just reading an interesting article in the March 2009 National Geographic entitled "
Saving Energy: It Starts At Home".
One point made in the article:
If we drove our cars 20 fewer miles each week, we could reduce their CO2 emissions by 107 million tons each year, a 9 percent decrease.
But closer to home, we see:
Buildings, not cars, produce the most CO2 in the US. (Because) The average house is 45% bigger than it was 30 years ago.
Wisconsin has some great programs in place that can help you save energy.
From Wisconsin's

Our Residential Programs show Wisconsin residents how to reduce their carbon footprints and lower their costs of living by being more energy efficient. Whether they’re switching to ENERGY STARŪ qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs or building a Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Home - these efforts are really paying off. Last year alone, Wisconsin residents saved approximately $10 million in energy costs by making simple lifestyle changes.
By making simple changes you can keep your home warm and comfortable this winter without spending more on utility bills.
